How to Pair a Honeywell 1911i/1981i Bluetooth Scanner with a Honeywell VM1 Vehicle Mount Computer

Overview

The basic steps for pairing a Honeywell 1911i Scanner or 1981i Barcode Scanner to a Thor VM1 Vehicle Mount computer are:
1) Scan a barcode to set the 1911i/1981i scanner to its default values
2) Scan a barcode on the side of the VM1 to associate the scanner with the VM1
3) Accept the pairing request on the VM1
4) Test the pairing

 

Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1: Scan the following barcode to set the 1911i/1981i scanner to its default values
Honeywell Barcode - Activate Custom Defaults

Step 2: Scan the barcode on the left side of the VM1 to associate the scanner with your VM1
Note: DO NOT SCAN THE BARCODE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE VM1

Step 3: On the VM1, you should get a prompt Incoming Bluetooth Connection | Do you want to accept? Tap Yes to accept this pairing request.

Step 4: You can test the pairing by opening Notepad then scanning a barcode.

Note: If the scanner pairs with the VM1, but data not seem to get transmitted to the VM1 (Notepad), there may be a problem with the COM ports. Please see the following for a potential solution: Barcode Troubleshooting – 1911i Scanner won’t transmit scanned data to my VM1.
