Zebra sells its Wireless LAN Business to Extreme Networks
I am thrilled to share with you that Extreme Networks has come to an agreement to acquire Zebra Technologies’ wireless LAN business. This is an exciting day at Extreme, as this acquisition enables us to further provide you – our valued customers – with the networking solutions and services required to run your business.
If you’re not familiar with Extreme, let me start by telling you a little bit about our company. Our heritage is in driving innovative products for the networking market and we remain committed to leading the enterprise campus market through consistent innovation across our end-to-end, wired and wireless software-driven network solution technology. Our product portfolio spans wireless, switching, network management, cloud, analytics, and security. We recently announced that for the second consecutive year, Extreme has been positioned the furthest to the right by Gartner, Inc. in the “Visionaries” quadrant in the Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure.
Adding new wireless LAN solutions to our existing wireless LAN technology enables us to provide you with a full portfolio of end-to-end, wired and wireless software-driven networking solutions – as well as our industry-leading customer service, ExtremeWorks, which Gartner recognized as #1 in the networking industry.
At Extreme, our customer-centric approach has always been at the heart of what we do. From our innovative technology to our dedicated focus on service, you are our number one priority, and this acquisition was made for the purpose of helping you run your business.
A part of this acquisition is Zebra’s full wireless LAN portfolio, which will become a part of the existing ExtremeWireless product line. This includes a series of new access point (AP) offerings, including Zebra’s wall plate and tri-radio APs to provide versatility and agility across a variety of vertical markets.
This acquisition also significantly expands Extreme’s wireless LAN security offering with the addition of Zebra’s wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) solution. The vendor agnostic AirDefense Security & Compliance solution provides the most advanced 24×7 wireless monitoring tools to enable IT staff to identify network attacks and vulnerabilities, and to instantly terminate the connection to rogue devices.
In the near future, I look forward to sharing more information with you about this exciting news and what it means for you and your business.
