The Zebra ET50 and ET55 tablets are built rugged for business yet still have consumer-styling. The ET50 is designed for use within the four walls and support 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networks; the ET55 is designed for use outside the four walls and has 4G LTE support making it suitable for both AT&T and Verizon networks.
Some of the key ruggedness features of these enterprise tablets include use of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with Native Damage Resistance which helps protect the display from real world events that can damage the glass. Both tablets have a 3.2 foot drop rating which can be increased to 5.9 feet with use of the optional rugged frame. They are also water resistant and have an IP65 seal rating which means they can be used in snow and rain, and even hosed down.
From a technical standpoint, the ET50 and ET55 are available with either the Google Android 5.1 (aka Lollipop) or Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system (Android-based tablets include MX extensions for enterprise use). Data capture capabilities include an 8 MP camera and either the SE4750 or SE4710 barcode scanner. They are powered by a Intel Quad Core 2.5 GHz 64-bit processor (Z3745 or Z3795) and are available with up to 4GB RAM/128GB Flash. Two display options are available: an 8.3″ display or a 10.1″ – both feature a capacitive touch panel. Other features include a hot-swappable 5900 mAH battery and Bluetooth v4.0.
