The AirLink ES440 LTE gateway and Terminal Server from Sierra Wireless is designed to provide business continuity in case your primary landline connections become unavailable. The ES440 does this by providing 4G LTE connectivity (which is typically faster than DSL) using your router’s seamless failover capability for continuous uptime of mission critical applications. This device can also be used for a variety of other applications like remove office connectivity and temporary locations – basically anywhere you need internet connectivity; however, for in-vehicle applications, we remove the GX440 as it has more rugged construction and includes mobile features like GPS.
Some of the key features of the ES440 include 1) the ability to be configured so that management data is sent via the DSL/cable gateway and 2) use as terminal server in order to troubleshoot and repair network equipment over wireless wide area networks (WWAN).
The Sierra Wireless ES440 is also designed to keep your communications and device secure through VPN tunneling, port filtering and trusted IP.
Note: For many users, the newer ES450 might be a better option as it provides the same functionality with an updated LTE radio.
